The remains of the ancient city of Colentum at the foot of the Gradina hill are nowadays mostly under sea level. Today, they are the first archaeological beach in the Adriatic, good for swimming and diving. The part that is still located on land boasts a promenade and a lookout point. The beauty of Murter was recognised by Roman emperors Nero and Vespasian, which is why every year in August the Colentum site traditionally brings Roman customs to life.
